Type A

They are generally used in personal computers, mainly connected to mobile phones, wireless network cards, USB flash drives, mobile optical drives, small-capacity mobile hard drives, etc.

Type B

Generally used for a 3.5-inch mobile hard drive, printer, and monitor connection.

Type C

Type C is an upgraded version of Type-A and B, oval, support for positive and negative symmetrical plug-in (not divided into positive and negative can be inserted), support for higher power transmission and bi-directional power transmission, the interface is ultra-thin, etc., set of charging, display, data transmission and other functions in one.

With a size of about 8.3mm x 2.5mm, it is gradually replacing the Micro USB connector. The highlights of Type C, which appeared after USB 3.1, are thinner and lighter design, faster transmission speed (up to 10Gbps), and stronger transmission power (up to 100W). It solves the worldwide problem of USB never plugging in.

Mini USB

They are generally used for mobile devices such as digital cameras, digital camcorders, measuring instruments, and portable hard drives.

Micro USB

Compared with Mini USB, it is smaller and thinner, and many mobile devices including tablets, mobile hard drives, digital cameras, and camcorders have eliminated Mini USB ports and replaced them with Micro USB.

USB (Universal Serial Bus) is a standard interface for connecting and transferring data. The current major USB standards are USB 1.1, USB 2.0, USB 3.2 Gen 1 USB 1.1, USB 2.0, USB 3.2 Gen 1 USB 3.2 Gen 2, USB 3.2 Gen 2×2, USB4, and USB4 2.0.

USB 1.1

This is one of the older USB standards where devices can achieve a maximum transfer rate of 12 Mbps and is known as Full Speed USB.

USB 2.0

USB 2.0-compliant devices can achieve transfer rates of up to 480 Mbps. This standard is known as Hi-Speed USB.

USB 3.2 Gen 1

Previously known as USB 3.0, compatible hardware can reach a maximum transfer rate of 5 Gbps (5,120 Mbps) and is known as SuperSpeed USB.

USB 3.2 Gen 2

Formerly known as the USB 3.1 standard, compatible devices can transfer data at speeds up to 10 Gbps (10,240 Mbps).
This standard is also known as Superspeed+.

USB 3.2 Gen 2×2

Also known as USB 3.2, allows compatible devices to transfer data at 20 Gbps (20,480 Mbps) and is known as Superspeed+ USB Dual Channel.

USB4

Based on the Thunderbolt 3 specification, the USB4 standard supports transfer speeds of up to 40 Gbps (40,960 Mbps).
It is the later generation USB4 2.0 base but with slightly lower speeds.

USB4 2.0

This is the latest version of the USB4 standard, released in October 2022. USB4 2.0 supports transfer speeds of up to 80 Gbps (81,920 Mbps).
